Basketball Victoria has announced the 2024 Junior Country Championships venues and dates!
After an incredible 2023 Junior Country Championships – with 300 boys and girls teams taking part in our tournaments – we’re excited to announce Red Energy Arena in Bendigo and Mildura Sporting Precinct, Mildura to be the 2024 JCC venues.
"This is exciting news for our region and for the profile of local basketball, illustrating yet again the benefits of having a premier venue such as the Mildura Sporting Precinct to co-host this calibre of event." Mildura Mayor - Liam Wood said "Thank you to both the Mildura Basketball Association and Basketball Victoria for bringing the Under 14 Championships to Mildura next year, which will be a great way to showcase what is a rapidly growing sport in our region."
Further information regarding team registrations, fixtures and livestreams will be announced later this year in the lead up to the 2024 Junior Country Championships.
The Junior Country Championships are conducted yearly for the U12, U14, U16 and U18 age groups. Regional affiliated associations and Victorian athletes are accepted as events are held over multiple days in a round robin and knock out setting.
Bendigo Basketball Association President - Martin Spottiswood
“Bendigo Basketball Association (BBA) are proud and grateful to host the Under 12, Under 16 and Under 18 divisions of the Junior Country Championships in 2024."
"BBA thanks Basketball Victoria and the Country Commission for selecting us to host the tournament."
"Red Energy Arena, with its 10 courts and facilities, allows all teams to assemble in one location.“
Mildura Basketball Association President - Leigh Anderson
"This is a massive coup for our region and our sport. Thanks must go to Basketball Victoria for being prepared to have a remote city host this event."
"The excitement such an event generates will further raise the profile of our sport locally as well as bring thousands of visitors to Mildura, which will benefit our broader region."
"It will also be a nice change for our players and families having a turn at not having to travel to compete in the championships, which will not only help in their preparations, but allow extended family, friends, and local supporters, to come out and see them in action."
Basketball Victoria would like to thank Mildura Rural City Council and City of Greater Bendigo for the support they provide for the Junior Country Championships.
