Victorian Wheelchair Basketball League
About us
The Victorian Wheelchair Basketball League (VWBL) is a yearly open-age, mixed domestic rep league held from September to October. All affiliated associations running wheelchair basketball programs, domestic leagues, or sessions are invited to enter.
The Victorian Wheelchair Basketball League was created to give athletes a chance to compete against other associations in a structured, competitive setting. It offers a pathway for participants from local programs to represent their association on court.
All Basketball Victoria affiliated Associations currently delivering wheelchair basketball initiatives are eligible to nominate to compete in the Victorian Wheelchair Basketball League.
The VWBL runs over four weekends, with finals played in the last round. Each year, competing associations can nominate to host a round, with a focus on balancing regional and metro locations in the selection process. The season typically kicks off on the second weekend of September and wraps up by mid-October, with plans to expand to more rounds in future years.
The Victorian Wheelchair Basketball League welcomes participants with varying levels of experience, with plans to expand into multiple divisions as the league develops.
The Inaugural 2025 Victorian Wheelchair Basketball League (VWBL) season launches in September, with six associations competing for the state title. The league will operate across September and October, with three home and away rounds and one finals round.
The league provides Victorian associations with a consistent annual competition that showcases the state's top wheelchair basketball talent.
