Basketball Victoria is saddened to hear of the passing of Howard Chant last week.
Howard was instrumental in helping to develop the longest running partnership in Australian sport, and was rewarded with a service award in 2010 for his 25 years plus work assisting the growth of basketball.
Through the majority of the duration of the relationship, as a McDonald’s senior representative, Howard was a magnificent supporter of basketball, helped establish the Hoop Time Program and his passion for the sport at all levels was evident as he attended many games and events. He retired in 2011.
Howard passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday 13th September 2023. He was the father of Sheralyn, Kylie and David, father-in-law of André, grandfather of Blake and Keira.
