Victoria, Melbourne - Basketball Victoria is excited to announce the 13 successful participants selected for the upcoming Women in Commentary Program, delivered in collaboration with Making The Call (MTC).
The full-day workshop, to be held at the State Basketball Centre on Sunday, 7 December 2025, will provide participants with practical skills in live commentary, on-camera presentation, and storytelling, while also offering valuable networking opportunities within the sports media industry.
Originally planned to accommodate 10 participants, the program has expanded its intake to 13 due to the exceptionally high quality of applications received.

“We were blown away by the standard of applicants,” said Basketball Victoria, Women & Girls Participation Manager Leah Swain, “It’s inspiring to see so many passionate women eager to develop their skills and step into the sports commentary space. This program is an important step in amplifying women’s voices across basketball and sport more broadly.”
Delivered by Making The Call, a leading organisation dedicated to increasing the representation of women and gender-diverse people in sports media, the workshop will be a dynamic, hands-on learning experience.
Basketball Victoria’s Women and Girls team will support the program delivery and help promote the stories and success of the participants in the lead-up to and following the event.
