Victoria, Melbourne - Basketball Victoria is excited to announce the appointments of David Peters and Brenton O’Brien to key leadership roles within the Basketball Victoria Pathways program.
David Peters – High Performance Coach, Metro Men
David Peters steps into the role of High Performance Coach, Metro Men after excelling as State Development Coach, Metro. DP has built a strong reputation for his expertise in player development, and his ability to curate and deliver programs that prioritise holistic athlete growth. As a leader, DP is respected as a strong communicator, who brings enthusiasm and strong sense of purpose to each opportunity. DP officially commenced in his new role on Wednesday 10 September.
Brenton O’Brien – High Performance Coach, Country Men
Brenton O’Brien has been appointed High Performance Coach – Country Men, commencing Monday 29 September. O’Brien joins Basketball Victoria from Maribyrnong Sports Academy and brings to the role a wealth of experience in athlete development, and as an educator, with strengths in communication and fostering positive athlete engagement. O’Brien is a familiar face to the Victorian basketball community, having contributed many years of service to the BV Country program. Most notably, he recently led the Vic Country Men to victory as Head Coach of the 2025 U18 National Championship team.
Dom Linossier, Basketball Victoria General Manager – Pathways, is excited by the appointments of both coaches, “We are thrilled to welcome David and Brenton in their roles as High Performance Coaches. Their basketball acumen, their relationships and understanding of the basketball landscape, and their dedication to the development of the craft of coaching make them brilliant people to lead our men’s Performance Pathway program into this next chapter. As leaders, we know that they will lead with an athlete-centred approach, a desire for transparency, and a willingness to challenge the status quo”.
