Melbourne, VICTORIA – After an exciting weekend of learning, development and plenty of basketball, Basketball Victoria is proud to announce the athletes selected to attend the 2026 Under-12 Country Jamboree.
Held across ten regional locations throughout Victoria, the Under-12 Country Skills Days brought together hundreds of young athletes eager to challenge themselves, develop their skills and take their first steps on the Basketball Victoria Country Pathway.
Following impressive performances across the Skills Days, 240 athletes born in 2015, 120 females and 120 males, have now earned selection to the 2026 Under-12 Country Jamboree, to be held in Echuca from 19–22 September.
The Jamboree is one of the most exciting milestones in the Basketball Victoria Country Pathway, bringing together the state's most promising young country basketballers for four days of high-quality coaching, development and competition.
For many athletes, it will be their first opportunity to represent their region, train alongside other emerging country players and experience the next level of the Basketball Victoria pathway. It's a chance to build confidence, develop new skills and create friendships that will last well beyond the court.
Basketball Victoria High Performance and Pathways Coordinator – Country, Craig Hockley, congratulated all selected athletes and praised the enthusiasm shown throughout the Skills Days.
"The standard across this year's Skills Days was outstanding, and it was fantastic to see so many young athletes embrace the opportunity to learn, compete and challenge themselves," Hockley said.
"Selection to the Country Jamboree is a wonderful achievement and a reward for the effort each athlete has put into their development. We can't wait to see them continue their basketball journey when we come together in Echuca."
Basketball Victoria also congratulates every athlete who participated in this year's Under-12 Country Skills Days, including both the 2015 and 2016 age groups.
The Skills Days are about much more than selection. They provide young players with the opportunity to learn, grow and experience the Basketball Victoria pathway in a fun and supportive environment.
While Jamboree selection is reserved for athletes born in 2015, the enthusiasm, effort and talent shown across both age groups highlighted an exciting future for country basketball in Victoria.
