Eligible Victorian athletes are invited to express their interest in representing the state at the 2027 Ivor Burge Championships.
Melbourne, VICTORIA – Basketball Victoria is inviting eligible athletes from across the state to submit an Expression of Interest for the 2027 Ivor Burge Victorian Men’s and Women’s teams.
The Ivor Burge Championships are Australia’s national basketball championships for athletes with an intellectual disability, bringing together talented players from across the country to compete for the Ivor Burge Cup.
Basketball Victoria General Manager Pathways, Dom Linossier, said the program provided an important opportunity for athletes to represent their state and continue developing their basketball.
“The Ivor Burge program is an important part of our state pathway and reflects our commitment to ensuring basketball is a sport for all,” Linossier said.
“It gives athletes the opportunity to challenge themselves, connect with teammates and proudly represent Victoria on the national stage. We encourage eligible athletes from across the state to put themselves forward and be part of the selection process.”
The Victorian Men’s and Women’s teams will feature the best eligible athletes from metropolitan and country Victoria, with the program following the same model as the Under-20 state program.
All eligible athletes are encouraged to register their interest; however, places at the trials are limited. Athletes will be selected at the end of each trial session to progress to the next stage of the selection process.
Those selected in the final teams will represent Victoria at the National Championships from 25–31 January 2027.

Submit an Expression of Interest for the 2027 Ivor Burge State Teams
To be eligible, athletes must have an intellectual disability classification based on an IQ of 75 or below, have completed the required IQ testing and hold an AusRapid number.
All athletes must also complete the national eligibility process through Sports Inclusion Australia before participating.
