With the Youth League One Women finals fast approaching, the race for the 2026 MVP is building towards an exciting finish. We take a look at some of the standout performers whose confidence, consistency and leadership have helped shape another highly competitive season.
Confidence, composure and continued development have been on full display throughout the Youth League One Women season.
As clubs prepare for the final push towards finals, players across the competition have continued to embrace bigger roles for their teams, delivering consistent performances while helping build momentum at the right time of year. With standout contributors emerging across the league, the depth of talent has once again been a defining feature of the competition.
Hume City has been led by the outstanding performance of Maddison Crotty, who continues to rank among the competition's most prolific scorers, averaging 25.3 points per game to go with 5.3 rebounds. Teammate Tilly McNamara has also made an important contribution, consistently impacting games with her scoring and defensive pressure.
Bellarine has also featured prominently, with Summer Field and Jada Button both playing key roles. Field has averaged 11.3 points and 8.5 rebounds while making an impact across multiple statistical categories, while Button has continued to shine with averages of 19.5 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.
Coburg's Paige Jones has been a commanding presence throughout the season, averaging an impressive 14.8 points and 14.4 rebounds per game, while Western Port teammates Merryn Morrison and Taylah George have continued to provide strong leadership for their side. Morrison has averaged 14.3 points and 13.9 rebounds per game, while George has complemented her with 13.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists per contest.
Bulleen teammates Sarah Carr and Alexya Charalambous have each played important roles throughout the season, while Whittlesea's Amy Temos has continued to showcase her all-round game with another impressive campaign. Camberwell’s Jessica Del Brocco has filled the stat sheet all season with averages of 14.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.5 steals per game, while Frankston’s Lily Ellul has averaged 12.3 points per game to continue her strong campaign.
Basketball Victoria Big V League Manager Andrew West said the Youth League One Women competition continued to demonstrate the confidence and development of the next generation of Big V athletes.
"Youth League One Women has been a fantastic competition to watch this season, with so many athletes continuing to grow in confidence and take on bigger roles within their teams," West said.
"It's been exciting to see players stepping up in different ways and making meaningful contributions each week. The quality across the competition has been outstanding, and with finals approaching, I'm looking forward to seeing these athletes continue to embrace the challenge on the biggest stage."
With the regular season entering its final rounds, every performance presents another opportunity for players to help their teams build momentum heading into finals. With so many athletes enjoying impressive campaigns, the race for the 2026 Youth League One Women MVP promises to go right down to the wire.
The Race to MVP series celebrates some of the standout performers across the Big V competition. With finals approaching, the race for individual honours remains wide open as players continue to help drive their teams towards postseason success.
