Courts across Victoria will turn pink this weekend as the BigV community comes together for one of the most meaningful and widely embraced themed rounds of the season, Pink Round.
While some clubs have already celebrated over the opening weekend of May and others will host activations later in the year, the message remains the same across the competition: basketball is about far more than what happens on the scoreboard.
Pink Round is an opportunity for clubs, players, coaches, officials, volunteers, families and fans to stand together in support of breast cancer awareness, while recognising the strength, courage and resilience of those impacted by the disease.
With Mother’s Day also falling on Sunday, the round carries an even deeper significance, providing a moment for the basketball community to celebrate and acknowledge the incredible women who shape the game and communities around them, from mums and mother figures, to players, coaches, team managers, administrators, officials and volunteers.
It is also a chance to honour breast cancer survivors, support those currently battling, and remember loved ones who have sadly lost their fight.
BigV League Manager Andrew “Ted” West said Pink Round continued to represent the very best of the Victorian basketball community.
“Pink Round is one of the most meaningful weekends on the BigV calendar because it shows the incredible heart of our clubs and wider basketball community,” West said.
“Whether it’s fundraising, pink uniforms, themed game nights or simply showing support and raising awareness, our clubs continue to embrace the round in a really special way, and we’re incredibly proud of what it represents both on and off the court.”
Across the league, clubs have embraced the spirit of the round in different ways, helping create an atmosphere that is both vibrant and deeply meaningful while supporting the Breast Cancer Network Australia.
Last weekend, several BigV clubs led the way with fantastic community initiatives and fundraising efforts.
- Dandenong Basketball Association hosted a Pink Round on Sunday, with players wearing pink socks while funds were raised through door entry donations and limited-edition pink t-shirts.
- Bellarine Peninsula Basketball Association created a memorable Pink Round atmosphere with giveaways, coin toss games, silent auctions and special pink uniforms worn by McKinnon Championship Men and Women teams.
- Wallan Basketball Association rallied its community through raffles and merchandise sales including bracelets, scrunchies and pens.
The momentum continues this weekend, with more clubs preparing their own Pink Round celebrations.
- Bendigo Basketball Association will release limited-edition pink hoodies as part of its Pink Round celebrations.
- Bulleen Boomers will celebrate Mother’s Day weekend with mothers running out alongside their daughters before matches.
- Chelsea Basketball Club will feature pink warm-up shirts and fundraising merchandise.

- RMIT Basketball Club will host free merchandise giveaways, free popcorn and a sausage sizzle, with profits supporting Beyond Blue.
- Sherbrooke Basketball Association will wear pink uniforms while also providing a donation link for supporters to contribute.
- Warrnambool Basketball Association Senior Women will also wear pink uniforms in support of the cause.
- Westgate Basketball Association youth teams will take the court in pink uniforms alongside fundraising merchandise sales.
- Whittlesea Pacers Basketball Club will also be raising funds in support of BCNA.
Additional Pink Round celebrations will also take place later in the year at Sunbury Basketball Association and Hume City Broncos.
From pink uniforms and warm-up tops, to fundraising drives, raffles and themed game nights, Pink Round continues to showcase the heart of the Victorian basketball community and the ability of sport to bring people together around something bigger than the game itself.
Basketball Victoria encourages the entire community to get behind the round; wear pink, bring the energy and help support an important cause, while celebrating the incredible women who make the game stronger every single day.
