Basketball Victoria has been awarded $180,000 in Together More Active funding to support the delivery of two key inclusion-focused initiatives: the expansion of the B-All-In program and the launch of a new First Nations and multicultural workforce development project within the sport.
The funding includes an extension of the B-All-In program, Basketball Victoria’s flagship inclusion initiative which provides an accessible entry-point to women and gender-diverse people who may have never stepped onto a basketball court before. Initially funded in 2023 for two years (ending June 2025), Basketball Victoria applied for additional funding to continue the program’s growth. The new funding secures the delivery of B-All-In through to 30 June 2027.
Currently, 10 Associations are delivering B-All-In across Victoria, engaging approximately 250 participants through tailored, community-based participation opportunities.
“Through this extended funding, Basketball Victoria will be able to offer additional resources to associations, helping to grow the program's footprint and impact across the state” said Kat Gourley, Women and Girls Participation Manager, Basketball Victoria.
The grant also funds the establishment of a dedicated Project Officer role, focused on increasing representation and leadership among First Nations and multicultural communities across Victoria.
This project will deliver outcomes across four key areas:
- Coaching and Officials Workforce
- Education and Training
- Data Collection and Evaluation
- Community and Cultural Connection
“Receiving this funding is a pivotal step in implementing our Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) framework,” said Sheena Atkin, Basketball Victoria’s Diversity and Inclusion Manager.
These targeted workforce and participation initiatives form part of Basketball Victoria’s broader Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and Gender Equity Strategy and reflects a long-term commitment to fostering equity and opportunity across all levels of the sport.
