HLS Healthcare expands its support of Victorian wheelchair basketball, helping create opportunities for athletes on and off the court.
Accessibility creates opportunity. It's a simple idea and one that sits at the heart of wheelchair basketball and the opportunities it creates for athletes across Victoria.
That's why Basketball Victoria is proud to recognise HLS Healthcare's support of Victorian wheelchair basketball, building on their previous commitment to the Junior State Wheelchair Basketball Team, HLS are now supporting the Victoria Marvels and Victoria Wonders and the broader Victorian wheelchair basketball pathway.
The growing partnership reflects a shared belief that when barriers are removed and opportunities are created, people can achieve extraordinary things, whether that's representing Victoria for the first time, competing on the national stage or simply discovering a lifelong connection to sport.
Basketball Victoria Commercial & Partnerships Manager, Scott Davis, said HLS Healthcare's contribution extends far beyond financial support.
"HLS Healthcare has been a fantastic supporter of wheelchair basketball in Victoria, and we're incredibly grateful to see that support continue to grow," Mr Davis said.
"Their commitment to improving accessibility, independence and quality of life aligns strongly with what wheelchair basketball provides for so many athletes and families. Through their previous support of the Junior State Team and now the Victoria Marvels and Victoria Wonders program, they're helping create opportunities for athletes to develop, compete and thrive both on, and off the court."
Victorian wheelchair basketball continues to build momentum in 2026, with excitement building ahead of the Victoria Marvels' long-awaited debut season in the National Wheelchair Basketball League (NWBL), while the Victoria Wonders’ (WNWBL) season got underway last weekend. The milestone marks an exciting new chapter for wheelchair basketball in Victoria and further strengthens the pathway available to athletes across the state.
Beyond the national league, wheelchair basketball continues to provide meaningful opportunities for athletes of all ages and abilities across Victoria, creating pathways from grassroots participation through to state and national representation.
As a leading provider of assistive technology and accessibility solutions, HLS Healthcare helps improve mobility, independence and quality of life for individuals and their caregivers across Australia. As the preferred supplier of Changing Places facilities in stadiums nationwide, the organisation plays an important role in helping create more inclusive and accessible environments for communities across the country.
HLS Healthcare Director, Nick Stehr said supporting wheelchair basketball was a natural extension of the organisation's commitment to improving lives and creating opportunities.
"At HLS Healthcare, we're passionate about helping people achieve greater independence and access opportunities that enhance their lives. Sport has an incredible ability to bring people together, build confidence and create lasting positive impacts," said Mr Stehr.
"Wheelchair basketball is a powerful example of what's possible when people are given the opportunity to participate, compete and succeed. We're proud to support the athletes, coaches and volunteers who make this community so special, and excited to continue our journey with Basketball Victoria."
Basketball Victoria looks forward to continuing its partnership with HLS Healthcare as both organisations work together to strengthen opportunities, improve accessibility and support the continued growth of wheelchair basketball across Victoria.
