A perennial presence within Victoria Country basketball, Rod was committed to coaching and development. Many generations of players across our programs and teams were fortunate to have been led by his wisdom and expertise.

Within Basketball Victoria’s country programs and teams, Rod was always someone to put his hand up and support the growth of our sport. A long-time NITP coach at Geelong, Rod was heavily involved in High Performance programs throughout his time in basketball including work with our High Performance Hubs and other elite development programs.

His decades-long involvement with basketball saw Rod serve as a Victoria Country head coach for our ACJBC (Country Cup) and Pacific Coast Slam teams and he was an assistant coach with Victoria Country at the national championships level.

His passion in development and honing the skills of the next generation was always evident as he was a proud contributor to the Geelong Supercats (now Geelong United) VJBL program for over 30 years. He recently coached a Geelong Under-14 boys team to a Country Championships triumph and qualify for the Australian Under-14 Club Championships, further highlighting his passion for coaching at all levels.

We are thankful to have known Rod and grateful for every second he spent enriching the lives of all around him in the basketball community.

Vale Rod.
