As an organisation that strives to uphold the values of equality, fairness and diversity, Basketball Victoria wishes to voice its unequivocal support for the eradication of racism in sport and the wider community.
We recognise that there is an urgent need to address the way in which Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, African-Australian, African-American and all black communities are treated here in Australia, the United States and many other places in the world.
Basketball Victoria and its leagues – NBL1, Big V, VJBL and the CBL – encourage, value and celebrate the participation and contributions of players, coaches and officials from these communities. They deserve the same level of respect and opportunity as any other person in society.
We will continue to work with all communities to create the most welcoming basketball environments, free from all forms of prejudice and discrimination.
