Basketball Victoria statement: CBL Round 11

THE following is a statement from Basketball Victoria regarding this weekend’s Country Basketball League (CBL) round in the North West and South West Conferences.

After close consultation with local authorities, CBL Round 11 games in the CBL North West and South West Conferences will go ahead this weekend on Saturday 4 January and Sunday 5 January.

Basketball Victoria has been advised there is currently a low fire risk in these regions and games across Round 11 will not be affected by ongoing bushfires across Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales.

The CBL North East Conference is scheduled to return for its Round 11 games on Saturday 11 January and Sunday 12 January, while the CBL Gippsland Conference concluded its season on Saturday 21 December and has no remaining games scheduled this season.

Basketball Victoria is working closely with local authorities and government to ensure the safety of our competition’s players, coaches and staff and will postpone any CBL games under their recommendations.

While current locations at this stage are not appearing to present danger to the North West and South West Conferences, the safety of travelling teams and referees is paramount and any concerns should be communicated through the associations and the league.

We will make appropriate updates through our website and social media channels if required.
