Basketball Victoria launches its Online Museum

BASKETBALL’S rich history in Victoria will now be digitised for everyone to enjoy.

As the peak sporting organisation for basketball in Victoria, it is our duty to cultivate the present, expand our future and especially now… to preserve our past.

We want to lead the way in this  area so future generations can celebrate the feats of today and learn more about their heritage on court. With nearly 100 years of organised basketball history throughout our state, it’s important for Basketball Victoria to document the wide array of items.

From events like the Olympic Games, the Australian Men’s Championships, the early days of WNBL and NBL, our Melbourne United Victorian Junior Basketball League and to all the associations, clubs and teams that have driven basketball here since 1927.

So we have created our online museum – the Basketball Victoria Online Museum – to document it and make sure no one can forget the important role played by those who created our history.

The museum will constantly evolve and add new content, new photographs, videos and documents that talk to us. Our history changes every day after all and the BV Online Museum will highlight the feats of our current players as well as those who have hung up the sneakers.

Those items that sing out about Victorian basketball successes, our grand feats, our greatest players and to those who have pushed the game along throughout our history.

In addition, we have a range of uniforms, photos, programs and trophies/medallions/pennants on display.

We want to see it all. Do you have old memorabilia? Playing jerseys from juniors, old collectables, pennants, medals… you name it, we’ll celebrate it.

If you would like to contribute to the online museum, we are always interested in seeing your pieces and capturing images and video to preserve our rich legacy. Please direct all your queries to or phone 03) 9837-800.

So set some time aside and take a look for yourself – it is well worth it…Visit the BV Online Museum
