We are in the midst of something we have never experienced before and will hopefully never experience again. Basketball’s on-court hiatus is in place to help us “flatten the curve” of infection and ease the spread of the COVID-19 virus, this is the sacrifice that the community must make. Basketball will not be brought down by the current situation 🏀

Basketball is our history and will remain our future. Make sure you support each other and remain patient. We will be helping you all in the coming months to stay active, engaged and connected. Skills are taught on court, but perfected at home 🏠

Remember: Champions are made when no one is watching 💪

Basketball will be back. We’re not going anywhere.

The Online Training Challenge is a series of weekly challenge videos for basketballers of all abilities to practice skills like ball handling, finishing, shooting, passing when space and equipment is limited.

It’s a simple but highly effective training system for any age athlete.

Pick your level, choose a challenge and get to work by practicing the skill!

You then have the option to compete to meet target scores of your own or set by McKinnon – beat it or repeat it!


Hawthorn Magic Basketball have moved their training techniques to digital platforms, reinforcing “if we stay ready, we won’t have to get ready”.

Hawthorn are one of many Victorian basketball associations who have adapted to our current landscape to ensure their young athletes still get their weekly dose of sport.

Towards the end of March, they announced the launch of their Basketball Hawthorn Online Training Program.

On top of this, their online training offers different challenges set weekly and gives players the opportunity to do Facebook and Instagram Live training sessions.

Ball handlingspeed passing and shooting form have been the first topics of Hawthorn’s training sessions.

This week we have Core Advantage strength workout with a twist for you 👉 perfect for after the Easter weekend 😜

There’s multiple levels depending on your skill strength AND you can do it from your home 🏡


Casey Basketball have created a public Facebook group for participants to post videos of themselves doing the workouts that are shard on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Then, one of their staff or coaches go on and provide feedback and encouragement to every single video.

This is not limited to Casey members and any athlete from anywhere is encouraged to get involved!

Wyndham Basketball Association (WBA) is encouraging every basketballer out there to ADAPT, CONNECT and IMPROVE with its online training platform.

For Players

As part of the enforced break from basketball, Wyndham Basketball is running FREE online program sessions via Zoom.

Sessions run for about 15 minutes and are led by our highly qualified coaches and players.

For Coaches

It’s not just the players missing basketball at the moment. As a way to keep coaches across the country engaged and connected, Wyndham are coordinating a series of weekly FREE Online Coaches Clinics, featuring some of Australia’s best coaching talent.
