2021 VJBL Grading Fixtures Unveiled

The Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL) will officially return to courts across Victoria this January, after the 2021 grading fixtures were released today.

Junior athletes from the Under-12 to Under-18 age groups will be buzzing around the state on Friday 22nd January when the competition commences with Phase One of grading.

You can view the first three rounds of fixtures here.

Within the first three rounds of grading, a total of 1737 games will be played. Broken down, this will equate to 579 games of competitive basketball a week across three weeks Рthat’s a lot of basketball!

VJBL will take over Victoria in 2021 with a total of 61 venues set to host Phase One of grading on 190 courts.

Every age group has 40 teams competing for the 20 Victorian Championship spots on offer. The chosen teams for Victorian Championship will encompass the highest calibre of VJBL athletes and teams.

VJBL Operations Manager, Adrian Campbell, expressed his thrill towards having a start date for 2021 in his sights after the unfortunate events of 2020.

‚ÄúWhen the 2020 VJBL season was suspended early in March, I don‚Äôt think anyone could have anticipated just how long the basketball break would be due to COVID-19,‚ÄĚ Campbell said.¬†¬†

“Over 320 days since our last matches played, to now have the first official fixtures released for next year is a testament to all the people who make VJBL possible,

‚ÄúWe are beyond excited to be back in full force next year¬†with an array of teams and to offer this outlet for young athletes to begin, continue and develop on their basketball pathway.‚ÄĚ

After months of basketball suspended in 2020, VJBL athletes and fans can finally start to schedule their weekly competition for Friday nights in 2021!

The 2021 season will run from January to October.
