A highlight on Basketball Victoria’s annual calendar, the 2017 Women in Basketball Breakfast is fast approaching.
Join us Thursday 12 October from 7am – 9am as Basketball Victoria celebrates and pays tribute to the role women play in the business and sporting community.
In what is a new and exciting format, we will hear from thought-provoking presenters whilst recognising outstanding achievements from girls and women in basketball.
Held in the Leopard Room at the iconic Melbourne Zoo (Parkville), be inspired by those who have created opportunity for others and share your experiences with a room full of decision-makers and people of influence from within and beyond the basketball landscape.
We are delighted to announce that our Master of Ceremonies for the breakfast will be leading sports journalist, TV presenter, radio personality and acclaimed author Angela Pippos.
Joining Angela on stage will be Fox Sports CEO Patrick Delany, head of Australia’s largest TV production company and newly announced WNBL Broadcast Partner. Delany will discuss the current broadcast landscape and the direction Fox Sports are set to take with Australian women’s basketball and more.
This event is suitable for basketball association and club presidents, managers, administrators, metropolitan, local and regional media, coaches, officials, and fans in general of the sports industry.
Tickets can be purchased for $50.00 or can be bought as a table of 10 for $450.
Angela Pippos – MC
Angela Pippos left her native South Australia in 1997 to pursue a sports journalism career in Melbourne with the ABC. She’s best known for anchoring the sports segment on the ABC TV News for almost a decade.
Searching for a new challenge in 2007, Pippos ventured where no woman has dared go – the testosterone-charged world of breakfast sports radio.
She’s appeared on a number of sports programs including Network Ten’s Before the Game and The Back Page on Fox Sports.
Her first book, The Goddess Advantage – One Year in the Life of a Football Worshipper (Text Publishing) loosely follows her life during the 2005 AFL season. Pippos recently released her second book, Breaking The Mould – Taking A Hammer To Sexism In Sport and the television documentary she wrote, produced and presented about the rise of women in Australian rules football.
Angela’s second documentary about the inaugural AFL Women’s competition will screen on ABCTV in September 2017.
