Victorian referees selected for AusChamps

CONGRATULATIONS to the five referees selected for the upcoming Australian Junior Championships.

This year’s Australian Under-18 Championships and Kevin Coombs Cup will be held in Townsville, Queensland from 13-20 April.

After many years of successful seasons across Victoria officiating in MUVJBL, previous Australian Junior Championships and domestic competitions, the Technical Officials Commission has selected the following referees to officiate at the championships.

Returning from their gold medal campaigns at the Australian Under-16 Championships are Joshua Durand and Sam Viergever, while Brittany Andreola also has national experience from the 2017 Australian Under-16 Championships as does Eliza Singleton, from the 2017 Under-14 Club Championships.

Daniel Nancarrow will officiate at the Kevin Coombs Cup tournament, for Australia’s elite wheelchair basketball players.

Basketball Victoria’s Technical Officials Manager Bill Mildenhall said it was amazing to see another strong group of developing Victorian referees heading off to officiate in a national championship.

“For all of these referees, this is the next step in the national pathway and it’s a brilliant to see them push and improve themselves each year,” Mildenhall said. “To be able referee each year at a national championship is an amazing achievement for developing referees and we wish these five referees from Victoria the best of luck heading to Townsville.”
