THE 2018 Under-14 Boys Club Championships will head to Kilsyth Basketball from 1-6 October.
Accommodating an Australian Junior Championship for the first time since hosting the Australian Under-16 Junior Championships in 2016, Kilsyth is one of the largest basketball associations in Australia and is responsible for 1,000 domestic basketball teams with over 14,000 registered players.
The established Hugh McMenamin show court boasts a 1,400 seat capacity while Kilsyth Stadium features six basketball courts overall to house the upwards of 150 games across the week.
“In recent years, Kilsyth Basketball have hosted the Under-16s two years ago as well as the School Championships in 2012 and 2013 and we are delighted to be returning to the venue again in 2018,” said Basketball Australia General Manager of Competitions Paul Maley said. “Their facilities and professionalism will ensure every athlete enjoys a fantastic experience throughout the week in Kilsyth.”
“Kilsyth Basketball is thrilled to be chosen as the host site for the Under-14 Club Championships in October 2018,” Kilsyth Basketball Association CEO Garry Conner said.
“This is an incredible opportunity not only for our Association, but also for our local Yarra Ranges and Maroondah City councils.
“It’s always great to have a chance to showcase our facilities to the rest of the nation, in particular our 1400 seat capacity Hugh McMenamin showcourt.
“With some of Australia’s best young talent coming through our doors, it’s exciting to think that we could potentially have some future Australian Boomers playing on our courts.”
