Courage and Confidence to Lead: Building Basketball’s Future Program

BASKETBALL Victoria is seeking women with leadership ambitions to apply for the Courage and Confidence to Lead: Building Basketball’s Future Program.

Basketball Victoria is seeking women with leadership ambitions to apply for Basketball Victoria’s new Courage and Confidence to Lead: Building Basketball’s Future Program.

To further enhance and elevate driven women to become successful basketball leaders on boards and committees, we have created this leadership program for 12 privileged women to be nurtured to become the next leaders in the wider basketball community. The program will run for 10 full-day sessions in a variety of metropolitan locations spaced over 10 months.

Who can apply?

Basketball Victoria encourages female executive, committee members and presidents (who have served six months or less in that position) from basketball associations and clubs across Victoria to apply. This program has been created for those seeking greater opportunities on boards and committees and will provide the professional skills they need to rise up and develop an enhanced leadership style.

Margot Foster

Key Facilitator

The program is heavily supported by Margot Foster AM who will help facilitate the program in conjunction with Basketball Victoria. Margot Foster AM is a lawyer by profession and ran her own legal practice for over 30 years and during that period she competed for Australia in rowing, winning medals at the Olympic and Commonwealth Games. She also simultaneously embarked on her parallel career as a director/board member of many not for profit organisations across a range of industries but principally in sport. Basketball Victoria is working closely with Margot to deliver this exciting program. There will also be a great variety of guest speakers across the sport, health, government and corporate sectors.

How to apply?

Applications are now open – Click here to apply for the program. Applications close on Friday 24 August. No late applications will be accepted.

Basketball Victoria’s General Manager of Strategy and Inclusion Karen Pearce said the program is the best opportunity yet for women who seek to rise into greater positions of responsibility in basketball.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for women who strive to take their off-the-court basketball ambitions to the next level,” Pearce said. “We know you have the potential to become successful basketball leaders and presidents and this program will enable women from across all associations and clubs to take the next step.

“This will be a challenging program, as we give you the training you need to make it in the boardroom, but at the same time this is a fantastic opportunity that will leave you confident, proud and smiling.

Courage and Confidence

“We are excited to present the Courage and Confidence to Lead: Building Basketball’s Future Program and see these high-calibre women rise to even greater heights.”

If you have ambitions of promotion to higher ranks of boards and committees throughout Victorian basketball associations, this is the leadership program for you.

This opportunity will be limited to only 12 successful candidates, who will be invited to attend 13 sessions – in Melbourne from mid-September 2018 to June 2019. The program will be centrally located, with the majority of sessions held at locations throughout the Melbourne CBD allowing easier access for our regional women to attend as well.

These sessions will guide successful candidates to harness your strengths as well as gaining access to extensive mentoring opportunities, high-calibre executive strategies and the tools necessary to furthering your executive career.
