Trainings are scheduled for athletes who have to contend with travel, family or other commitments. The SDP is part of the Basketball Victoria High Performance Pathway and assists with State Team selections for Australian Junior Championships, held throughout Australia each year. The SDP works with identified Country and Metro athletes in the under-16 and under-18 women’s and men’s age groups.
SDP athletes work under the Basketball Victoria HP curriculum as athletes will work with identified coaches under the direction of the High Performance Country Head Coaches and Hub Head Coaches in regional satellite hubs and at regular combined training camps.
Selected athletes may also be invited to attend The Victorian National Performance Program (VNPP), which is designed to assist Basketball Australia in identifying athletes who are members of national junior teams or are capable of making those teams. The VNPP will be held from September 2019 to August 2020 and will be operated by elite coaches who are national-calibre coaches.
