BASKETBALL Victoria has expanded its High Performance Coaching Department, providing further elite opportunities and mentoring to Victoria’s elite players and coaches.
Basketball Victoria is currently recruiting four High Performance Head Coaches, with Victoria Metropolitan and Victoria Country to have designated Men’s and Women’s Head Coaches.
Our recruitment process will see High Performance Head Coaches appointed for: Victoria Country Women, Victoria Country Men, Victoria Metropolitan Women and Victoria Metropolitan Men.
As our High Performance teams flourished in 2018, leading to eight national championships victories from the nine tournaments of the year, Basketball Victoria wants to ensure our successes continue and it all starts at the top with elite coaching.
For our 13 teams representing Victoria, Victoria Metropolitan and Victoria Country on an annual basis, it is important for Basketball Victoria to continuously improve our High Performance Coaching to help our players and coaches reach greater heights.
The four successful candidates will provide leadership, knowledge and support to affiliate members of BV throughout Victoria. The four Head Coach roles will work in conjunction with each other to run the State Program as a whole, but with a focus on their assigned client base.
Leading the coaching of the State Development Program, State Team Program and High Performance (Victorian National Performance Program) portfolio for identified Victorian athletes and coaches to successfully perform at a national and international level, each Head Coach will maintain the priority to develop future Victorian Olympians, Paralympians and World Championship participants.
Basketball Victoria High Performance Manager Grant Wallace said it was an exciting opportunity for elite coaches to join the organisation.
“It was important to Basketball Victoria to expand our High Performance Coaching Department and create further opportunities for elite coaches throughout the state,” Wallace said. “By employing four full-time coaches, across both Victoria Metropolitan and Country men and women respectively, we’re ensuring Victorian players and coaches have even greater support as they strive towards Australian representation and beyond.
“In recent years, we expanded our Technical Officials Department to better provide access and service to the Victorian basketball community and now is the perfect time to do the same with our High Performance Head Coaches.
“These opportunities will push Victorian basketball to even greater levels and we’re keen to see the new High Performance Head Coaches get started.”
