Basketball Victoria launches Facility Master Plan – 2017

BASKETBALL Victoria has launched its facilities strategy to address the significant indoor court shortage within the Victorian sporting community.

Following the release today (Monday 4 December) of the Basketball Victoria Facility Master Plan – 2017, facility development and expansion remain important aspects to maintaining the viability of basketball’s future. 

In conjunction with Netball Victoria, Basketball Victoria launched its facilities strategies on Monday 4 December, and were joined by The Minister for Sport, The Hon. John Eren MP.

Basketball Victoria CEO Nick Honey said the Basketball Victoria Facility Master Plan – 2017 provides insight and data to governments at all levels to enable greater planning and development of basketball facilities.

“Basketball in Victoria is booming currently but that rise in participation is putting pressure on indoor sporting facilities,” Honey said. “Without further intervention, basketball associations across the state will struggle to meet the increasing demand.

“The Basketball Victoria Facility Master Plan – 2017 is the first step in a long process designed around slashing our court shortfall and enabling Victorian players of all ages easier access to basketball.”
